Statement
In my recent paintings, I have begun to manipulate space in order to create a more visionary world that is both sweeping and poetic.  As I've encountered the vast texas landscape with its ever present horizon line, I've wanted to convery the grandeur and drama of that sky, with its capricious cloud formations and dazzling light.  I have been fusing my interest in this spare landscape with my ongoing interest in the intimate description of everyday objects-- abandoned bird nests, twigs, stones, marbles.  My interest lies in merging the very large and broad with the small and closely observed to create impossible vistas which are the result of free invention and the discoveries made through the process of painting.
